Dear colleagues and fellow scholars,
From the 8th to the 10th of August 2018 the 29th Nordic Sociological Association Conference will be hosted by the Department of Sociology and Social Work, Aalborg University, Denmark. This summer conference will take place in the city of Aalborg. We hereby invite calls for sessions.

The title and overall theme is:
*The Global North – Welfare policies, mobilities, inequalities, and social movements*
The conference focuses on the relation between Nordic countries and global processes. How do the Nordic countries influence global processes and how do global processes such as migration, division of labour, environmental problems, commodity production and discourses for modern governance influence the Nordic countries. The conference will address challenges to the Nordic countries and responses to such challenges. Hence, the conference addresses questions of migration, poverty, inequality, recent labour market and welfare state developments. The conference also focuses on responses from civil society, institutional developments, changes in organizations, management, governance and the frontline of the welfare state.

Professor Mike Savage (London School of Economics and Social Science) has confirmed that he will give a keynote lecture.
We welcome proposals for thematic sessions for the conference as well as proposal outside the overall theme. In selecting sessions, we will emphasise a broad approach to discussing the development in the Nordic
Countries in relation the global processes mentioned in the theme description. Please refer to the website for detailed information on what the proposal should include.

The deadline for proposals for sessions is *1st of March, 2018* (Please note that this is the new extended deadline for sessions). The organising committee will review the proposals and the decisions will be announced thereafter. Please submit your proposal for sessions to
